Ed Stephens graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Architecture. He was a partner for many years in his own architecture and engineering firm in Lubbock, Texas. While practicing architecture, he did watercolor renderings of his own designed buildings.
Stephens taught in the architecture department of Texas Tech University on an adjunct basis. He was also an instructor in the interior design department at Lubbock Christian University. Stephens has taken watercolor workshops fom Frank Webb, Tom Lynch, Betty Lynch and Harold Phenix.
While in Lubbock, Stephens presented thirteen 30-minute programs entitled "Exploring Watercolor" on KTXT-TV, Lubbock's public television station. He has conducted workshops in Texas and New Mexico, including two one-week workshops at the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram, Texas. In addition, he has taught classes and private lessons in watercolor.
Stephens' work hangs in banks, professional office buildings and in private collections throughout the United States. He also has paintings hanging in a private collection in Eastern Europe.
"Watercolor should be exciting, fun and rewarding to every watercolor artist," is Stephens' attitude. Stephens is currently retired from the practice of architecture and living in Mesquite, TX.
